The Happy Campers went camping and fishing at Umfula Resort in Parys, Free State. The resort is situated on the banks of the Vaal River and it offers as host of water sports as well as fishing.
It’s a very nice camping resort and even though they allow day visitors, they don’t bother you at the camp sites. The resort consists of both chalets and camping sites and it boasts an entertainment area where you can have a beer and watch rugby on the big screen. There is putt-putt for the younger campers as well as a playground area for the kiddies.
We had river fronting camp sites which were awesome. Nice clean ablutions although their showers could benefit by adding somewhere for you to put your clothes when you’re having a shower. We couldn’t go on any of the game trails as they were upgrading the roads inside the reserve area. The camp sites have to share the water point and there is both 220v and caravan power points (the blue one) available for each stand.
